What's been going on?

So I've been gone for a while. I hope that Jess' updates have been sufficient as I have been slacker boy when it comes to my blog. So here's an update. Aren't you excited?

1. I am no longer a full time employee. When we got back from MN I finished almost 7 years of working full time so that I can enjoy some summer time before I head back to school at the end of August. It's been great so far. Lots of time at the pool. I actually have some sort of a tan.

2. Class starts next month. ODU classes start August 28th (I think) and I'm getting excited nervous about it. Here's what I'm taking:
1) Computers In Society
2) Introduction to Visual Arts
3) Problem Solving & Programming I
4) Introduction to Probability and Statistics

3. Tonight is my first gig with Mark Smilor & The Long Way Down. If you aren't busy come check us out tonight at Aromas in Williamsburg. Show starts at 8pm. I will give this disclaimer...we have no drummer tonight. So it's going to be an acoustic show. But all the other shows after this one will have a full band.

4. I was on FM radio. I have to put the FM disclaimer because in High School I was on a local AM station a few times. It was fun and we were invited back. Unfortunately it aired last Sunday. But if you are interested you can go to here.

5. My awesome wife...who seems to become more awesome by the day, has started her own business. You can check it out here. It's been awesome to see her really get into this.

6. Music News: When I was in High School, before I could drive, I'd be stuck at church on Wednesday night after youth group waiting for my dad to finish choir practice. Well at some point a drum set ended up in the youth room. And thusly I started messing around on the drums. I've continued to mess around on them whenever I've had the chance. So now I'm tired of only being able to play when I can get someone else's kit so I'm buying my first drum set in the next few months. Other reasons: 1) There's too many guitar players in the area an not enough drummers. The ratio has to be like 100:2.5. 2) It's really just another way for me to play music. The approach is completely different from guitar. So I'm looking forward to it. But the neighbors aren't.

Your Thoughts On My Thoughts?

I was thinking the other day about life and that we are all in going through the process. The process of becoming. Because of today you are not exactly the same as yesterday. Today you experienced something that you have never experienced before. It may have been very minuscule in the grand scheme of your life, but still you experienced it. If nothing else you experienced 07/03/09 and you will never experience it again. I believe that every new experience and idea helps you in the process of becoming. So in summation...

We are all in the process of becoming the person we are going to be the moment we die.
