The looming giant of my furthering education is encroaching quickly on my previously laid back life. My tenure at ODU starts on Monday and I am ready. Last week I recieved all my books and my new...*drum roll*...13" MacBook Pro (thank you student loans). Which I am typing this blog on. I highly recommend them. After high school I was no where near motivated enough to do well in college. I floundered around TNCC for a few years before dropping out because I got a full time job. Well 8 years later, full time jobs aren't fun and I prefer being a student. So now I have a part time job, and I am a full time student.
Last night ended my summer of playing music. For the past two months I've spent a lot of time practicing and playing gigs with Mark Smilor & The Long Way Down. We played somewhere every week this month and we've had a good time. But, barring one more accoustic event with Mark and myself in 2 weeks, I'll be moving on. It's been a good time and there are different reasons for the move but we've had fun while it lasted and there are no hard feelings.
While on the subject of music I bought these. I went jammed with some people last week and I think my next musical endeavor will see me on a new instrument. I've played drums since I was 15 or 16. But I've never owned a kit and, other than a church setting, I've never been the "drummer" for a band. So I'm hoping that the next few months will find me playing a bit louder, and returning to the music that I love...indie rock. I'm excited about what's going to happen next in my musical life. I'll keep you updated.
Finally, (before the obligatory music video) I have some really long stretches in between some classes. Which I'm hoping that leads me to post here more. So, without further ado I give you Burning Airlines...
